Meridian Health and Hackensack University Health Network’s merger has gotten the go-ahead from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, a hospital executive said, leaving one more regulatory roadblock to go.
John K. Lloyd, Meridian’s president and chief executive officer, said the two sides now are awaiting approval from the state Attorney General’s office and expect to complete the deal in May or June.
“We’re geographically very far apart,” Lloyd said of the two companies. “But when (FTC officials) take no action, we believe that’s as good as an approval. Unless there’s a bizarre thing that happens, it’s not an issue.”
