(HACKENSACK, NJ, July 27) HackensackUMC, a member of Hackensack Meridian Health, was honored as a GHXcellence Award winner at the 2016 Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) Healthcare Supply Chain Summit awards banquet held recently in Austin, Texas. The awards, presented to provider and supplier organizations for the past 16 years, recognize the leaders and visionaries leveraging supply chain automation to remove waste, cut costs and improve patient care.
HackensackUMC was named the Provider of the Year (Large) by GHX. HackensackUMC also attained the #1 ranking in the GHX Best 50 category. GHX’s client base is comprised of more than 4,000 medical providers in the United States, Canada and Europe. The ranking is based on the facility’s level of automation and accuracy of each transaction.
“Due to the high level of automation achieved by the Purchasing Department at HackensackUMC, team members are no longer merely processing orders. They now have more time to focus on achieving value added outcomes,” said Karl Blomback, vice president, DSS, CDM, Materials Management, HackensackUMC. “Due to cost reductions, the department has saved the medical center an average of $23,000,000 per year since 2008.”
This year, GHX added the new Millennium Club Award for provider and supplier organizations that generate over one million automated transactions annually through the GHX Exchange, as well as eight new provider awards to the 2016 GHXcellence program, which blend quantitative and qualitative criteria to honor true healthcare supply chain leaders and innovation. Additionally, the GHX Provider Best 50 were also recognized at the awards luncheon.
“This is a highlight of the Summit each year, an opportunity for GHX to recognize the professionals and organizations that are paving the way for true supply chain excellence in healthcare,” said Scott Kelley, vice president, North America Sales and Marketing, GHX. “These GHXcellence winners represent the best and the brightest in healthcare supply chain innovation and success. I am honored to recognize them as they facilitate transformation within the supply chain.”
GHX selected the winners based on quantifiable performance metrics around success in automating business processes, including increases in POs and number of trading partners.
