The Tomorrows Children’s Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center has a special meaning for Lynn Hoffman, beyond the fact that she founded it in 1982 as a way to help young cancer patients and their families.
Cancer was diagnosed in Hoffman’s daughter, Kara, now 37, when she was younger than 2 years old. Now she has a 4-year-old daughter of her own.
“I realized then that families need support, and so do the surviving patients as they grow into adults,” Hoffman said Sunday at an annual “Cure and Beyond” party for former cancer patients celebrating their triumphs over the disease that threatened their young lives.
