After graduating from high school recently, Elizabeth Gongora didn’t have a lot of job opportunities waiting for her.
She has several physical disabilities that have hampered her attempts to get work experience beyond a smattering of volunteer jobs, she said.
But now, after a few weeks participating in a new county-run program at Holy Name Medical Center, the 20-year-old Dumont resident is considering a career in health care.
Launched in September at Holy Name and Hackensack University Medical Center, the Project Search program aims to help young people with physical and other disabilities gain work experience.
