Hackensack University Medical Center, a member of Hackensack Meridian Health, was pleased to join EMCOR Group, Inc., mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and building services, for the eighth annual “Protect Yourself, Get Screened Today” campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer screening.
Dressed in pink hard hats and pink T-shirts, hundreds of participants, including construction workers from Meadowlands Fire Protection, a division of EMCOR/F&G Mechanical, gathered in the Newport Green park development in Jersey City, NJ as a call to action. They formed a human pink hard hat ribbon as a visible reminder.
EMCOR/F&G Mechanical spearheaded an effort to raise $100,000 for the John Theurer Cancer Center Breast Oncology Division at HackensackUMC to support its programs and initiatives for the second consecutive year.
“We are grateful for the energy, drive and generosity demonstrated by EMCOR/F&G members, who helped to make these fundraising efforts possible,” said Nancy K. Kennedy, director of Development, John Theurer Cancer Center, who attended the event. “We appreciate this gift made through the HackensackUMC Foundation on behalf our patients, their families and our community.”
Public officials joined with breast cancer treatment advocates, construction workers and other attendees at the event to raise awareness and generate support. October was National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
