Hackensack Meridian Health moved a step closer Tuesday to adding a central New Jersey hospital and related health care operations to its growing statewide network, signing a final agreement Tuesday to bring the 498-bed JFK Health and its well-regarded neuroscience and rehabilitation institutes into the nonprofit system. The plan now awaits approval from the state attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission. The merger follows recently announced partnerships between Hackensack Meridian Health and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for cancer care, and between the health network and the New Jersey Institute of Technology to establish an innovation institute. Hackensack Meridian Health is also a partner with Seton Hall University in the creation of a new medical school at the former Hoffmann-La Roche site in Clifton and Nutley.
