The Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with a number of state and federal agencies, conducted a simulation in the metropolitan New York area called Operation Gotham Shield to explore the aftermath of a terrorist attack with a nuclear component. On Wednesday, Hackensack University Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center and Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy participated in the exercise, testing how it would handle the thousands of patients that would be contaminated by the fallout.
