JTTC HUMC Med Physics Residency TeamProgram Goals and Requirements

The goals of the John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) at Hackensack University Medical Center Medical Physics Residency are to prepare the resident to achieve competency in all areas of clinical Radiation Oncology Physics and to be qualified to take the certification examination of the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics once the prerequisites of the Board are fulfilled. In order to graduate from the Residency Program, the resident must successfully
  • complete all eleven clinical rotations,
  • complete end of rotation as well as mandatory journal club presentations,
  • complete and pass all oral examinations,
  • participate/attend various conferences, lectures and meetings that are considered relevant to the resident’s training,
  • complete the professionalism and ethics training and
  • complete the required cases/activities as outlined in the “Requirement Checklist” for each rotation.

  • Clinic Introduction July – August
  • Treatment Planning I August – November
  • QA of EBRT November – February
  • Stereotactic Service: LINAC-based February – May
  • Stereotactic Service: Gamma Knife May – June

PGY-2

  • Brachytherapy June – September
  • Treatment Planning II September – December
  • Radiation Safety December – February
  • Imaging February – April
  • LINAC Acceptance Testing & Commissioning April – May
  • Clinic Coverage and Project May – June
