Lung Cancer & Esophageal Cancer Treatment

Expert Care for Lung Cancer and Other Chest Tumors

Thoracic cancers, such as lung cancer, esophageal cancer and other tumors that involve the chest, lungs and esophagus, are among the most complex tumors to treat. Our top lung specialists will carefully evaluate your health and customize your treatment to provide you with the most advanced, effective and least invasive treatments available, based on the stage and biology of your cancer.

Get a Lung Cancer Screening

John Theurer Cancer Center is designated as a Lung Cancer Screening Center of Excellence by the Lung Cancer Alliance. We specialize in spiral CT scanning, which can detect many lung cancers in their earlier, more curable stages. If CT scanning shows a suspicious nodule, we can quickly connect you with our lung specialists for follow-up care.

If you are at increased risk for lung cancer due to a history of smoking, you may be eligible for lung cancer screening.

To find out if you are eligible for lung cancer screening, or to make an appointment call 844-HMH-WELL (844-464-9355).

What Treatment Options are Available for Lung Cancer and other Thoracic Cancers?

A wide variety of thoracic cancer experts will work together to tailor a treatment plan that meets your needs. We may combine surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and/or radiation therapy, choosing the approaches that give you the best chance of a successful outcome.

For More Information
We study your tumor to identify genetic mutations and learn about the molecular signals involved in your cancer’s growth. We use the results to match you with targeted therapies, ensuring you receive the therapy that is best suited for the biology of your cancer.
One of the most recent advances in thoracic cancer care, immunotherapy boosts your natural immune system to help improve your immune response so it targets cancer cells.
External Beam Radiation (EBRT) can be used on its own or in combination with brachytherapy, depending on how aggressive your cancer is.
More than 80% of our surgical evaluations and treatments are done with minimally invasive approaches, including robotic surgery, thoracoscopic surgery, navigational bronchoscopy, and endobronchial ultrasound.
Clinical Trials

We have the largest clinical research team in New Jersey. Our thoracic oncologists are actively involved in clinical trials for new treatments that may be more effective than existing therapies.

Patient Story

“Everyone on Dr. Thomas Bauer’s team was amazing. They are truly compassionate people. My nurse spent a lot of time in my room, making me feel comfortable, answering all of my questions and helping me feel at ease. I really felt like I was treated as an individual, not just another post-op patient.” - Diana Robertson Fidanzato
