JFK Medical Center Hosts Stroke Awareness Program at South Plainfield Senior Center

JFK Medical Center has begun a new partnership with the South Plainfield Senior Center in providing programming, health information and screenings for their members.  May is Stroke Awareness Month and, at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, Briana DeCarvalho, MSN, RN, SCRN, a research nurse coordinator for the JFK Neuroscience Institute’s Stroke and Neurovascular Center, will hold a Stroke Workshop to discuss the signs, symptoms, risk factors and what to do if someone is having a stroke. Through Hackensack Meridian Health, additional health-related speakers and programs are also planned, with a diabetes educator scheduled to join the seniors on their Friday walk, May 31, and a doctor joining them on June 28. Through the partnership with the medical center, a Diabetes Clinic is scheduled to take place at the center on June 12.
