Medical Education Track at HUMC Internal Medicine
The Hackensack University Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program is proud to offer the Medical Education Track to our PGY 2 and PGY 3 residents with an interest in becoming clinician educators and in creating a scholarly project to improve graduate medical education over one or two years.
Residents can expect to receive education and experiential learning opportunities in subjects not limited to: medical education research methods, mentorship and coaching of medical students, bedside clinical teaching, large group teaching, and problem based curriculum facilitation at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Applications are accepted until April 30 of each academic year and applicants are required to complete their PGY 1 year and demonstrate the ability to handle the additional responsibilities of the track.
Our program has completed its first iteration in the 2022-2023 academic year and continues to grow along with our excellent residents!
"Through the medical education track I gained invaluable skills from expert academic faculty in instructional design and student/resident development which has prepared me to excel in a career in academic medicine. Additionally, this track has given me opportunities to work on focused scholarly activities and opportunities teaching at HMSOM."

"The medical education track provided me with a unique opportunity to learn the basic elements to become a clinician-educator. They are foundational skills that have translated into my fellowship where I work with various learners at different stages."
