Hackensack University Medical Center calls Uber to transport patients

April 7, 2016

Hackensack University Medical Center inked a new pact with Uber, the upstart taxi service, to make it easier for patients, staff and visitors to get to the hospital.

The New Jersey-based Hackensack said the deal will improve the discharge process and help patients who otherwise struggle to find or afford transportation.

Both Hackensack and Uber will make changes to their mobile apps. On Uber’s side, its app will add a feature that allows patients to share what pick-up zone they are in at the 755-bed medical center. Meanwhile, Hackesack’s app will feature reminders about its Uber services and Hackensack’s website will add a page for requesting Uber rides.

Hackensack said it will also launch an education campaign to make patients aware of the new partnership with Uber.
