Hackensack Meridian Health is pleased to welcome David C. Leopold, M.D. as the Medical Director for Integrative Health & Medicine. Dr. Leopold specializes in integrative pain management, lifestyle medicine, and integrative cancer care. Before joining Hackensack Meridian Health, he served as Director of Health & Wellness and Integrative Cancer Survivorship Services and as the Director of Integrative Medical Education at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in La Jolla, California.
As Medical Director for Integrative Health & Medicine, Dr. Leopold will provide direct patient care and clinical direction for Integrative Health & Medicine services. He will develop clinical education in integrative health and medicine for healthcare professionals. He will also cultivate opportunities for research and implement strategic initiatives that ensure successful outcomes and sustainability.
“We are excited for Dr. Leopold to join our team as Medical Director,” says Lori Knutson, Administrative Director, Integrative Health & Medicine. “His experience will bring clinical expertise that will broaden our capacity of services and facilitate partnerships with physicians.”
Dr. Leopold completed his medical internship and residency in family medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in integrative pain management at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona School of Medicine. He is a recipient of the Bravewell Scholarship for Integrative Medicine and completed the Leadership Program in Integrative Healthcare at Duke University.
Dr. Leopold is a diplomat of the American Academy of Family Medicine and is board certified in family medicine. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Holistic Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management. He is a certified medical acupuncturist and has advanced training in non-pharmacological treatment of pain and diseases, including natural supplements, food as medicine, and mind-body medicine.
