Eugenia Timm, FACHE, CMPE, director of Operations, Physicians Services Division, received the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) 2018 Innovation Award for her significant commitment to advancing health care management and excellence throughout Hackensack Meridian Health and Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group.
Timm accepted the notable award on January 18, 2019. She said, “In an industry that continues to challenge us with providing better quality of care that is more convenient, accessible and cost-effective, innovation is truly becoming a prerequisite for any organization to continue to thrive. I am very proud to say I am part of an organization that puts innovation, discovery and advancements at the core of our beliefs and encourages an environment of creativity and a safe place to promote new ideas.”
Born in Russia, Timm earned her Bachelor’s in Science in Economics from Voronezh State University in 2006. She then decided to further her education in the United States and enrolled in the MBA program at Georgian Court University. During her graduate studies, she also secured an externship with the network as a business associate in the Finance Department.
After graduating in 2010, Timm continued to work in the network’s finance systems. Recognized as a skillful and knowledgeable team member, in 2011 her role was elevated to EMR implementation specialist, working with the implementation of GE Centricity in the physician practices. During this time, Timm learned about the practices and assisted in the build, training and implementation of the GE system.
Working with EHR implementation allowed Timm to understand practice processes, billing and other operational flows in the practices. Again, Timm was recruited to join the administrative team in the physician practices in the role of regional practice administrator. This high-level position within the Physician Services Division held Timm responsible for all aspects of operations in approximately 20 practices.
In June of 2018, Timm received her fourth promotion in nine years and became the director of Operations for the Physician Services Division, and is now responsible for more than 130 practices.
Donna Anders, FACHE, director of Quality and Outcomes, Physicians Services Division, nominated Timm for the award. “Eugenia’s work with our physician practices has raised us to a higher level,” boasted Anders. “She is a thorough, thoughtful leader with a global view of Hackensack Meridian Health and health care in general. She takes every opportunity to bring new ideas and concepts to the planning table help us as a cutting-edge organization.”
A forward-thinking leader, Timm also seeks to better herself and to add to her education and experience. She became a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2010. She began participating on the Membership Committee in 2017 and is still an active member. When her practices began working towards National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition, Timm completed the requirements and tested to become a Certified Content Specialist (CCE). She is also a Certified Medical Practice executive through Medical Group Management Association.
“Innovation is central to Hackensack Meridian Health’s vision and to have Eugenia be recognized by the ACHE for this award is an achievement,” said Dean Lin, MHA, MBA, FACHE, FCPP, president of Care Transformation Services and Physician Practices. “We are certainly privileged to have someone with her vision and talent as a leader on our team.”
“Behind every individual recognition there is always a strong team,” explains Timm. “I’m very fortunate and thankful for the opportunity to work with such inspiring and dedicated leaders, physicians and team members that never stop pursuing our mission of transforming health care and striving to be recognized as the leaders of positive change. I would like to thank all of them and my entire team – this award belongs to them as much as it does to me.”
