March 04, 2019

Garrett is “one of the real modern-day examples of an executive who is not afraid to try something new."

Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most integrated health care network, is pleased to announce that Robert C. Garrett, CEO, is ranked No. 13 among 30 leaders on ROI Influencers Power List 2019.

The exclusive roster is led by Gov. Phil Murphy and includes Senate President Steven Sweeney, Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and U.S. Sen. Corey Booker. Mr. Garrett is the top-ranked health care executive in New Jersey on ROI Influencers Power List 2019.

“Bob is truly a visionary and an exceptional ambassador for our network," said Gordon N. Litwin, Esq., chairman of the Hackensack Meridian Health Board of Trustees. “We are privileged to have him leading our organization as we continue to grow, excel and provide high quality, innovative care and an outstanding patient experience."

As ROI-NJ editors explain in including Mr. Garrett in this influential group: “There’s not enough space to discuss all of the innovative ideas Garrett is implementing or all of the partnerships he is pursing as head of Hackensack Meridian Health. And we haven’t even mentioned the new medical school at ON3 in Nutley and Clifton."

An insider quoted by ROI-NJ notes: “This is one of the real modern-day examples of an executive who is not afraid to try something new, not afraid to embrace new technologies and business models – and not afraid to fail."

Under Mr. Garrett’s leadership as sole CEO this year, the network welcomed Carrier Clinic, its 17th hospital; developed new strategic partnerships which will be announced in coming weeks and continued to support the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, which has received more than 5,700 applicants for its second class, which totals 90 students. Additionally, Mr. Garrett led influential panels at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland focusing on innovative breakthroughs in health care delivery and was a featured panelist at Harvard Business School’s annual summit on health care last month.

Donald J. Parker, president of Carrier Clinic, and Andrew Pecora, M.D., FACP, CPE, president Physician Services and chief innovations officer for Hackensack Meridian Health, were included in a separate list, ROI Influencers Power List 2019: Health care.
