Rehabilitation center issued three year accreditation

Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Center has again been issued a three year Accreditation for its Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehab Program and its Specialty Stroke Program from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

“We are so proud of our Rehabilitation Center and its team,” said Kelli O’Brien, chief hospital executive of Riverview Medical Center. “This accreditation demonstrates that Riverview truly values our patients and we are accountable to the community. With every recognition we receive, Riverview is further establishing itself as a leader in health care.”

CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services in a variety of health care settings. The CARF International group of companies currently accredits more than 59,000 programs and services at over 27,000 locations. CARF accreditation extends to countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

With the rapid changes and advances in rehabilitation, CARF's medical rehabilitation standards reflect leadership in the field internationally. Accreditation is official recognition that an organization is guided by internationally recognized service standards and best practices.

A Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is a program of coordinated and integrated medical and rehabilitation services that is provided 24 hours a day and endorses the active participation and preferences of the person served throughout the entire program. A stroke specialty program, through application of the research available to clinical practice, delivers services that focus on the unique needs of those who have sustained a stroke.

“Accreditation in these two areas really demonstrates the high quality level of care patients can expect when they visit Riverview,” said O’Brien.
