Hackensack Meridian Health is pleased to announce that four of its hospitals have earned an "A" from the Leapfrog Group as part of the spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This designation recognizes hospitals for efforts to protect patients from harm and provide safer health care.

The following Hackensack Meridian Health Hospitals have received spring 2020 “A” grades: Jersey Shore University Medical Center; Ocean Medical Center; Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy; and Riverview Medical Center.

“I want to congratulate our team members for this well-deserved recognition,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, chief executive officer of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Our patients, their families, and the communities we serve are the beneficiaries of their expertise and dedication.”

The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based national nonprofit organization, is committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data twice per year.

“Patient safety continues to be a top priority and our shared responsibility,” said Carol Barsky, M.D., MBA, executive vice president and chief quality officer, Hackensack Meridian Health. “We honor the trust our patients place in us by remaining fully committed to providing the highest quality patient care, patient safety, and patient experience.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
