Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey Recognizes Theresa Brodrick with 2020 Nurse Executive Award

The Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey (ONL NJ) announced that it has selected Hackensack Meridian Health executive vice president and chief nurse executive Theresa M. Brodrick, Ph.D., RN, NE-BC, for its 2020 Nurse Executive Award. This award recognizes Dr. Brodrick’s exceptional leadership, guidance and service to Hackensack Meridian Health and to the nursing profession.

“Theresa’s remarkable leadership has led to a culture of nursing excellence, innovation, and empowerment at Hackensack Meridian Health,” said Bob Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “I want to congratulate Theresa on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for significantly elevating the practice of nursing both within our organization and the profession overall.”

Hackensack Meridian Health is New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network and is one of the most recognized health care systems in the country for nursing excellence with seven Magnet® designations from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. As network chief nurse executive, Dr. Brodrick oversees all nursing practices and policies. Among her accomplishments at Hackensack Meridian Health over the last year, Dr. Brodrick has developed and implemented a singular nursing vision, mission, philosophy and Professional Practice Model; created a new department dedicated to Magnet® to promote shared governance and professional development; established the first network-wide award program dedicated to honoring nursing excellence; advanced implementation of the ONL NJ Nursing Work Environment Staffing Council at all acute care hospitals; developed a best-in-class compensation program that provides more opportunities for meaningful merit increases and enhanced growth; and created a first-in-the-northeast program with the Red Cross to provide nurses with the opportunity to volunteer locally.

ONL NJ’s annual Nursing Leadership Awards celebrates and honors nurse leaders in the state for their significant contributions to the profession. In addition to Dr. Brodrick, 14 other nurse leaders from across the Hackensack Meridian Health network are recognized as honorees and nominees. This includes Kathy Taylor, DNP, RN, CCRN, CAPA, director or nursing organizational effectiveness at Hackensack Meridian – Raritan Bay Medical Center, who was selected to receive the 2020 Professional Recognition Award.
