Spirit Halloween Again Selects K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital as Recipient of Spirit of Children Annual Fundraiser

For the fifth consecutive year, Spirit Halloween has selected the Child Life program at Hackensack Meridian Children's Health at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital, located at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, as a recipient of its annual Spirit of Children fundraising initiative. From now until Halloween, select Spirit Halloween stores will accept in-person donations and will distribute coupons entitling customers to 10 percent off their purchase, while simultaneously donating 10 percent of their purchase to benefit patients at The Children's Hospital.

"Spirit Halloween has been an amazing partner to K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital throughout the last few years," says Joseph Stampe, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian - Meridian Health Foundation. "Their support enables us to improve care, upgrade technology and enhance programs for our youngest patients and we are so grateful to again be selected as one of the recipients of this amazing program."

The recent gift provided through the Spirit of Children program, representing collections during the 2019 Halloween season, totaled nearly $72,000 bringing the organization's overall donations to nearly $280,000.

"As we all know, this year has been unlike anything we have ever seen," says William Faverzani, vice president, Hackensack Meridian Children's Health. "For children facing hospitalization – whether short or long-term – it's even harder. What Spirit Halloween does for these children is truly remarkable, and I am personally so thankful to them for choosing us as a partner and continuing the tradition, despite an atypical Halloween season as a result of the pandemic."

In addition to providing funds that support the Child Life program and enable the hospital to purchase sensory and distraction items for children, Spirit Halloween sends boxes of supplies containing costumes and party goods for hospitalized children.

"Thanks to Spirit Halloween, we will be able to help hospitalized children experience a little bit of normalcy during this festive holiday," says Harpreet Pall, M.D., professor and chairman, department of pediatrics, K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital. "It helps to lift their spirits – and their parent's – very much and is so appreciated."
