Ocean Medical Center Receives an ‘A’ for Patient Safety

Hackensack Meridian Ocean Medical Center earned an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group as part of the Spring 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade report.  This is the sixth consecutive ‘A’ designation the medical center has received that recognizes its efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.

“I am proud of our team of nurses and physicians who are committed to patient safety and are dedicated to ensure the safety of every one of our patients,” said Jason A. Kreitner, MHA, FACHE, president and chief hospital executive, Ocean Medical Center. “They consistently strive to do what is right for our patients and this designation is a great recognition of their hard work.”

The Leapfrog Group that provides the grading program, is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers.  The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D,’ or ‘F’ grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other harms to patients in their care.

“Having received top ranking for six consecutive surveys demonstrates the highest level of quality and safety by Leapfrog national standards,” said Kenneth N. Sable, M.D., MBA, FACEP, Hackensack Meridian Health, regional president, southern market. “Congratulations to the entire medical staff and all team members at Ocean Medical Center.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
