Cancer survival rates have improved over the years due to newer and better forms of treatment with chemotherapy and radiation. But when treating cancer, some therapies may cause lasting damage to the heart. This is especially true if you are at risk for heart disease. The Cardio-Oncology team will help you complete your cancer treatment while minimizing impact your heart. All current cancer patients will receive a regular heart function assessment. If you are a cancer survivor including those who received cancer treatment as children, will be monitored for heart disease or risk, and if needed, receive continued medical care to maintain heart functionality.
Our expert cardiologists work closely with the oncologists to provide seamless, integrated care as we work to protect a patient’s heart before, during, and after cancer treatment.
