Angela L. Kurzyna, MA, Psy.D., BCB
Angela L. Kurzyna, MA, Psy.D., BCB, is a health psychologist at Hackensack Meridian Integrative Health and Medicine in Old Bridge, NJ. She has a passion for implementing mind-body approaches to health and healing and advancing the field of integrative health. Dr. Kurzyna’s goal is to help people transform suffering into true resilience and live a life of authentic happiness. As part of the collaborative process, she helps clients better understand where they may become caught in unhelpful ways of thinking or behaving and then implement their strengths in a way that not only helps them overcome challenges, but leads to a life filled with purpose and passion. Dr. Kurzyna’s compassion and sincere interest in understanding her clients’ unique experience is her strength. She uses interventions best suited to meet each client’s individual personal growth and wellness needs while maintaining the use of empirically supported techniques.
Dr. Kurzyna has over eight years of experience working with people with chronic medical conditions and fifteen years of experience as a therapist. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Services from Rider University where she was the recipient of the Lincoln Scott Walker Memorial Award in Counseling Services. She completed her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a concentration in health psychology. Dr. Kurzyna is board certified in general biofeedback, a means of self-regulation helpful in managing stress, anxiety, and certain forms of chronic pain. She has completed a formal practicum training in mindfulness-based stress reduction.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kurzyna teaches a course on mind-body health in the Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology Master’s program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and provides biofeedback mentoring. She has presented to the community and special organizations on biofeedback, stress management, and coping skills for managing chronic pain. She also provides wellness and burnout prevention programs for nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers.
Dr. Kurzyna’s special interest include positive psychology, purpose, building resilience, biofeedback, meditation and other forms of self-regulation.
