Same Day Procedures

We understand that bringing your child to the hospital for same day services may be stressful. Rest assured, our experienced and dedicated pediatric specialists know how to help your child.

Your child’s treatment plan may require procedures, such as:

• Bone marrow services
• Blood transfusions
• Clinical trials, including gene therapy
• Endocrine testing
• Hematological tests requiring multiple blood samples
• Infusion therapy
• Minor procedures requiring conscious sedation, administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist
• Sedation for imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT scan)
• Same day surgery

Pediatric procedural sedation

We try to make your child’s experience as stress-free and pain-free as possible. Some tests or procedures may require a child to remain motionless for an extended period of time. Sedation may be needed to help your child relax and obtain accurate results.

Our team, led by board-certified pediatric intensivists, develops a sedation plan. This includes maintaining the same staff members with the child throughout the entire experience, which contributes to the physical and emotional well-being of each child.

Sedation is administered orally or through an IV while being carefully monitored by our physicians. We involve our child life specialists to help minimize your child’s fears through distractions, toys and other entertaining items.
