RTB8

Hackensack Meridian K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center is the first in the U.S. granted an affiliate membership to the prestigious Children’s Oncology Group (COG). This status makes it possible for patients to be enrolled in the latest treatment trials and receive their care from the Neptune hospital campus.

This membership provides Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health patients access to the world’s greatest body of research and clinical studies on pediatric cancer care. Across the United States, more than 200 children's cancer centers that have met the quality assurance standards established by the National Cancer Institute comprise a network of hospitals known as the Children's Oncology Group (COG). K. Hovnanian joins Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, the other institution in the Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health network, in providing pediatric patients with access to the latest treatment trials.

The Children’s Oncology Group and its predecessor organizations have had a pivotal role in transforming childhood cancer from a virtually incurable disease 50 years ago to one with a combined five-year survival rate of 80 percent today. The collaboration with COG connects patients to the latest clinical trials and upwards of 8,000 pediatric oncology experts around the world.
