West Essex Tribune (11/1) Woman credits recovery from brain aneurysm to calculated decision to perform open surgery

After suffering stroke-like symptoms and being brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Pinakin Jethwa, M.D., determined that the patient had a ruptured middle cerebral artery aneurysm. The neurosurgeon opened the skull and placed a small clip across the neck of the aneurysm to prevent blood from entering it, which decreased the chances of causing a stroke and ultimately leading to a better long-term recovery.
