Hackensack Meridian Health Team Members at Palisades Medical Center Ratify New Labor Contracts

On Friday, November 2, HPAE-represented team members at Palisades Medical Center ratified new successor labor contracts that the hospital and union reached on October 24, 2018, after nearly six months of negotiations.

The ratified contract defines the wages, benefits and terms and conditions of employment for members of the bargaining units through May 31, 2021. The agreement covers approximately 860 team members.

The new agreements will enable Palisades Medical Center to continue to deliver safe, high quality care for patients and provide sustainable, fair and market-competitive wages and benefits and a positive work environment for team members. They also align HPAE-represented team members' terms and conditions of employment with other Hackensack Meridian Health team members.

This is the second location where Hackensack Meridian Health and HPAE have settled negotiations in recent months. In September, team members at The Harborage, a long-term care facility, ratified a three-year labor contract.

Negotiations are ongoing for approximately 1,200 nurses at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and for about 290 nurses at Southern Ocean Medical Center. The National Labor Relations Board will hold a democratic election at Southern Ocean Medical Center on November 13 and 14. Nurses will have the opportunity to cast votes anonymously whether to remove HPAE as their bargaining representative.
