February 13, 2019
Collaboration will advance the network’s health care technology practices, delivering more accessible, secure and consumer-friendly technology solutions
Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network, today announced a new collaboration with Google Cloud, which will advance the network’s health care technology practices, delivering more accessible, secure and consumer-friendly technology solutions through a multi-cloud strategy.
"We are excited to announce our collaboration with Google Cloud," said Robert C. Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. "Innovation is a centerpiece of our culture at Hackensack Meridian Health, and Google Cloud will provide us with the tools to further transform our health care network and our information technology practices, so we are equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Collaborating with Google Cloud is an investment in our future and will keep us on the cutting-edge of technology."
Google Cloud offers secure storage, powerful compute, integrated data analytics and productivity solutions that help organizations solve their toughest business challenges. Taking advantage of GCP’s size and structure will reduce the network’s infrastructure cost and allow the organization to take advantage of the powerful and sophisticated tools that Google Cloud offers.
There are many advantages to using GCP products, including:
Hackensack Meridian Health can create and use serverless solutions that allow engineers to focus on building and connecting services that scale to any size and performance without the investment in and maintenance of hardware
Hackensack Meridian Health can utilize Google Cloud storage solutions, which not only provide increased security and availability, but are more cost effective
GCP’s Big Data solutions efficiently capture, process, and analyze data, providing actionable insights that transforms data into information and ultimately knowledge
GCP’s Machine Learning solutions reduce the complexity around Artificial Intelligence and using Google Cloud smart analytics will provide Hackensack Meridian Health team members with insights on how to solve challenging healthcare problems
"The future of health computing is clearly in the cloud," said David Reis, PhD, EVP & CIO, Hackensack Meridian Health. "Our collaboration with Google Cloud is transformative for our organization and will make our technology easier to use, far more accessible, and yet more secure. It will also drive down our costs, so we are able to reinvest in our IT Team Members so they can learn how to leverage the power of Google Cloud, ensuring we are the leading edge of health IT now and into the future."
"As technology in health care continues to evolve, health networks will become like data companies with more data in a digital form. Handling and utilizing large amounts of data can be expensive due to storage and processing costs required for the size and compute-power to effectively handle the data. GCP will help Hackensack Meridian Health get increased value out of its technology.
Health care technology is changing rapidly, and it’s critical for Hackensack Meridian Health to be the vanguard of that change, serving as a leader throughout the industry," Dr. Reis added.
