Hackensack Meridian Health’s Hackensack Alliance ACO Recognized Nationally among Becker’s 130 ACOs to Know - 2019

Hackensack Meridian Health is pleased to announce that its HackensackAlliance Accountable Care Organization (ACO) has earned national recognition among Becker’s Hospital Review’s 130 ACOs to Know - 2019. This is the fourth year in a row that Becker’s Hospital Review’s has named the HackensackAlliance ACO to this prestigious list.

“I want to congratulate our physicians and team members on this well-deserved recognition,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Their efforts make a significant and meaningful impact on the lives of our patients, their families, and the communities we serve.”

A national leader in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, the HackensackAlliance ACO has achieved shared savings every year since its founding in 2012. Out of 548 ACOs in the country for performance year 2018, the HackensackAlliance ACO ranked third in the nation for shared savings and was the top ACO in the northeast when it came to total and shared savings.

The HackensackAlliance ACO serves approximately 35,000 patients and includes four Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals: Hackensack University Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center, Pascack Valley Medical Center, and Mountainside Medical Center. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2012 to help achieve better health for Medicare beneficiaries while lowering health care costs. According to Becker's, it developed this list to highlight ACOs across the country and examine the opportunities for improving quality care and care coordination. The editorial team accepted nominations for this list and conducted independent research.
