A patient with a suspected case of COVID-19 at Hackensack Meridian Bayshore Medical Center has tested negative for the infection. New Jersey’s Department of Health reported the negative test result on Saturday, February 29.
“The care team at Bayshore Medical Center followed the protocols established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, ensuring that the patient was isolated and treated appropriately,” said Daniel W. Varga, chief physician executive, Hackensack Meridian Health. “Hackensack Meridian Health continues to proactively educate and train its care team on COVID-19 as we learn more about the infection.”
“We are very appreciative of all the efforts of our Bayshore team members and medical staff,” said Frank Citara, chief hospital executive, Bayshore Medical Center. “We want our patients to know they are our number one priority and they can always count on Bayshore Medical Center to receive safe, high quality care.”
As a reminder, patients who suspect they may have acquired the COVID-19 infection through travel or contact are asked to call their physician’s office, urgent care, or hospital before arriving. This will enable the clinical teams to take the appropriate precautions to limit exposure to other patients and themselves.
The following simple precautions can help protect against viruses and stop the spread of germs:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper arm.
Clean your hands. Frequent washing helps protect you and others from germs. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread this way.
Hackensack Meridian Health’s team of physicians, nurses, and health care workers routinely engage in emergency management practices and remain ready to care for its communities 24/7.
