Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital Virtual Golf Classic Raises Nearly $240,000

The virtual tournament raised funds for greatest need programs and services at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital

Nearly $240,000 was raised during the Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital Virtual Golf Classic. To safeguard supporters, the foundation moved its annual golf classic to a virtual fundraising event that was held on July 13 at 4 p.m. In lieu of the planned outing, the event featured a program that donors live streamed to continue to raise necessary funds for Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital’s greatest needs, helping us to improve care during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

The virtual event included updates from Hackensack Meridian Health leadership, inspirational videos, a tribute to our health care heroes working to fight COVID-19 on the frontlines and demonstrations by the team at Deal and Hollywood Golf Clubs, the would-be venues for the 2020 in-person event. Supporters can view the program at bit.ly/JSUMCVirtualEvent.

Gifts in support of COVID-19 relief and to help Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital fulfill their greatest needs, may be made at HackensackMeridianHealth.org/JSUMCGolf.

“Thank you to everyone who generously supported this annual event, particularly as the pandemic mandated that we transition it to virtual golf outing,” says Joseph Stampe, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian - Meridian Health Foundation, to which the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation belongs. “Although the pandemic may be temporarily at bay in our state, we are still recovering from its initial onslaught. Additionally, if we have learned anything, it’s that we need to be prepared for whatever comes our way, particularly if experts are predicting a surge. Life may be returning to ‘normal,’ but support for our health care heroes and these two fantastic hospitals, is still greatly needed. We are still gratefully accepting gifts and are thankful to everyone who tuned in to view the event.”

The 30th annual virtual golf classic was chaired by Robert Mullen, vice chair Robert Smith and the event sponsors were L.F. Driscoll/Structure Tone Organization, Jersey Mike’s Subs and The Allied Group.
