Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation Receives Generous Gift from Jenkinson’s Boardwalk Owners to Benefit Pediatric Care at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital

Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce a generous gift from the Storino family, owners of Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, to benefit Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, located at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The gift will benefit K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital's Greatest Need Fund to ensure clinicians can continue providing the most innovative and compassionate care for pediatric patients in the community.

“We are so grateful for this wonderful gift from the Storino family,” said Joyce P. Hendricks, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation. “The Storino family truly understands the importance of giving back to the local community, and we are so pleased to have their incredible support. Their gift will further ensure that our youngest patients receive the most advanced and compassionate care that they deserve to live happy and healthy lives, as all children should.”

The Storino family’s gift is the first to Hackensack Meridian Health, but certainly not the first in the community. Each year, the family, through Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, gives back to local schools and charities that benefit children and their families.

"K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital takes care of our community's children," said Pasquale Storino. "For our family, it is so important to us to give back locally. The care Hackensack Meridian Health and Hackensack Meridian Children's Health provides is critical to keeping our communities healthy and safe, today more than ever. Jenkinson’s Boardwalk prides itself on being the premier destination for families and children on the Jersey Shore and we are extremely happy to be able to make this gift knowing it will make such a difference in the lives of children in need of compassionate care in our community."

The Children’s Hospital is one of a select group of state-designated children’s hospitals in New Jersey, and the first and largest in Monmouth and Ocean counties. The hospital’s team is made up of 300 community pediatricians, obstetricians and family practitioners working side-by-side with the region's largest group of pediatric subspecialists. It is also part of the Children’s Hospital Association, an organization that is one of the nation’s premier voices for children’s hospitals and champions policies to support the highest quality care for children in the community.

K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital,  along with Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, ranked in the top 50 for pediatric cancer care in the 2021-22 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals rankings for a third year in a row. No other pediatric cancer program at a New Jersey children’s hospital was recognized.

“Through their local giving, the Storino family has shown their dedication to, and love for our community,” said Harpreet Pall, M.D., MBA, CPE, chair and professor, Department of Pediatrics, K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital and Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. “K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that includes a pediatric emergency care center, an ambulatory specialty care center, a pediatric acute care unit with private patient rooms and neonatal and pediatric intensive care units to take care of critically-ill patients. We are so touched by the Storino family’s commitment to make a difference for the children we care for - today and every day.”
