Hackensack Meridian Women’s Heart Fund Hosts Annual Reception

Funds raise to benefit Cardiac Expansion at Jersey Shore University Medical Center

The Hackensack Meridian Women’s Heart Fund will host its annual reception in support of cardiac expansion at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Thursday, June 1 at The Vogel at Count Basie in Red Bank. The event will feature a cocktail-style format, an array of hors d’oeuvres and stations, music and dancing and an auction for gift cards to Monmouth County restaurants along with fine wines and champagnes, tickets to MJ: The Musical and dinner for two at La Masseria and a cocktail reception for 30 in the Wine Cellar at Buona Sera, complete with limo service.

“The mission of the Women’s Heart Fund is to champion women’s health issues in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties,” said Joyce P. Hendricks, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation. “Heart disease remains the number one killer of women, and so we are grateful that the Women’s Heart Fund has elected to support the expansion of the Cardiac Unit at this world-class medical center. We are grateful to everyone who has registered, and invite all those interested in learning more about how philanthropy can benefit health care in our communities, to join us for this special evening.”

Jersey Shore University Medical Center was recently recognized by the American College of Cardiology for Excellence in Heart Failure treatment, and is the second highest volume cardiac center in New Jersey for cardiovascular invasive procedures. In order to ensure adequate capacity to meet the growing demand for cardiac procedures, the medical center is embarking on an expansion project that will increase procedure rooms from eight to 10 state-of-the-art rooms, as well as create a dedicated short-stay space for procedure preparation and recovery. Additionally, high-end, laser-guided robotic systems required for structural heart and other interventions would also be installed. Funds raised from the Women’s Heart Fund event will support these initiatives.

“You just never know when you or a loved one is going to be in need of emergent cardiac care,” says Mollie Giamanco, co-chair of the event. “That is why we are so proud to further support cardiac care at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, which has already saved the lives of several Women’s Heart Fund family members. If that time comes again, we want to ensure that the medical center is ready and able to treat any and all cardiac issues our cherished communities might face.”
