“Know the Difference” Advertising Campaign Unveiled Hackensack Meridian John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center Highlights New Jersey’s only NCI-designated cancer consortium

Hackensack Meridian John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) debuts a new “Know the Difference” advertising campaign, highlighting New Jersey’s premier cancer program and the state’s only NCI-designated cancer consortium. The campaign focuses on the importance of knowing the difference among cancer centers in order to make a choice that can make a difference in patient care. John Theurer Cancer Center is part of the NCI-designated Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University.

Ranked as New Jersey’s #1 cancer center by Newsweek, John Theurer Cancer Center provides premier cancer care by leading subspecialists who are globally recognized cancer experts. With ground-breaking research, novel therapeutics, first-in-class genomic profiling and next generation radiation treatments, patients have access to innovative approaches that result in exceptional outcomes. John Theurer Cancer Center is also home to one of the strongest drug development programs and one of the largest bone marrow transplant centers in the nation.

In less than 30 years, John Theurer Cancer Center has become one of the most rapidly growing and prominent cancer programs nationwide,” says Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “With more than 1,200 team members collaborating in a highly subspecialist and multidisciplinary environment, we are able to provide our patients with the most personalized care guided by state-of-the art genomics. In fact, we are the largest program in New Jersey with patient satisfaction scores in the 95th percentile.”

“As a premier cancer center, our researchers and clinicians are able and proud to offer patients the treatments of tomorrow, today,” says Andre Goy, M.D., M.S., chairman and director, chief of Lymphoma, and Chair of John Theurer Cancer Center and Physician in Chief for Oncology at HMH. “With more than 450 clinical trials, one of the strongest drug development programs in the nation, a leader in novel therapies and genomics that study the DNA and RNA in a patient, we are one of the leading forces in clinical science, diagnosis and discovery.”

“John Theuerer Cancer Center was the first to bring CAR-T cell therapy to New Jersey over 10 years ago - a treatment that empowers the body’s own immune cells to fight cancer,” says Mark D. Sparta, FACHE, president & chief hospital executive, Hackensack University Medical Center and president, Northern Region, Hackensack Meridian Health. “It’s also the sixth center in the world to offer a game changing radiation treatment that uses PET scan - combined as part of the radiation process - to precisely track tumors live without harming healthy tissue.”

“The premise of the campaign is the recognition that knowing where to go for cancer can make all the difference in your care,” said James Blazar, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Hackensack Meridian Health. “We want patients to know who the leading experts are, those who are actively pioneering new approaches and who are relentless on a quest for the best outcomes”.

John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center recently expanded its program to the HOPE Tower at Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) to expand cancer treatment in New Jersey. The expansion has allowed JTCC to offer advanced cancer care closer to home for patients in south and central New Jersey.

The JTCC “Know the Difference” advertising campaign will be a multi-channel campaign including television, print, out-of-home and digital.
