Jersey Shore University Medical Center Welcomes Vascular Surgeon Dr. Alan Dietzek

Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center recently welcomed Alan M. Dietzek, M.D., FACS, DFSVS, as regional chair of Vascular Surgery for Hackensack Meridian Health’s Southern Region and chair of Vascular Surgery for the academic medical center. Dr. Dietzek has more than 30 years experience as a vascular surgeon and in leading vascular surgery programs. He is an expert in performing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient endovascular procedures, with extensive experience in the following areas; aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, dialysis access, limb preservation, minimally invasive vascular surgery, peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins, and venous insufficiency.

“I can’t imagine a more well-suited physician than Dr. Dietzek to lead our vascular surgery program, and advance vascular care services throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties,” said Vito Buccellato, MPA, LNHA, president and chief hospital executive, Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC). Dr. Dietzek is nationally and internationally known for his extensive research in vascular surgery; he is an author of over 50 peer reviewed research publications, published multiple abstracts and book chapters, has participated in multiple clinical trials, and given more than 100 clinical presentations.

He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, a past president of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery and has held, or holds, leadership positions in numerous other vascular societies and professional organizations. Additionally, Dr. Dietzek has received many awards throughout his academic and professional career and has been included in New York Magazine’s Best Doctors list for 20 consecutive years, recognizing his dedication to his field.

Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Dietzek served as System Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery for Nuvance Health, a seven hospital system spanning western CT and the Hudson Valley of NY. He has held numerous academic and hospital appointments throughout his career and currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Surgery at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. Dr. Dietzek became the first recipient of the Linda and Steven R Cohen Endowed Chair in Vascular Surgery. This was donated by one of his grateful patients in 2006, an honor of which he is particularly proud.
