September 08, 2025

Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation, the philanthropic division of Hackensack Meridian Health, a leading not-for-profit health care organization that is the largest, most comprehensive and truly integrated health care network in New Jersey, announces the addition of new trustees to two of its boards of trustees.

Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation welcomed Varun Renjen, M.D., a partner at Putnam Inizio Advisory, located in New York. Dr. Renjen joins board chair Lawrence Inserra, Jr., and fellow trustees, who are currently raising funds for Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation’s Be The Difference campaign. Launched in September 2024, Be The Difference is a transformational effort focusing on four key pillars: enhancing the delivery of patient care, accelerating groundbreaking research and discovery, expanding health access for all and revolutionizing medical education while supporting the nursing profession. Through this ambitious initiative, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation aims to reshape health care for patients, clinicians and the diverse communities it serves, paving the way for a brighter, healthier future.

Additionally, Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center Foundation has welcomed Saleem Husain, M.D., FACC, to its board of trustees. Dr. Husain is the medical director of JFK University Medical Center’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and its Chest Pain Center, and joins fellow trustees in their fundraising efforts for Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center in Edison, NJ. The board, chaired by Adithya Bathena, most recently supported the newly renovated facility at 80 James Street in Edison, which is homed to an advanced cancer treatment center and a variety of physicians of varying specialties, including surgical services. Their sights are now set on driving attendance and fundraising revenue for the foundation’s annual golf outing, which will be held on Monday, October 6 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ. Funds from this year’s outing will support Graduate Medical Education at JFK University Medical Center as it continues on its journey to become a leading academic medical center.

“Philanthropy is needed now, more than ever, and we are grateful to Drs. Renjen and Husain for partnering with us in our vital work,” said Joyce P. Hendricks, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation, which oversees the affiliated hospital foundations, including JFK University Medical Center Foundation. “Our health care network is a not-for-profit system, which means that fundraising is incredibly important in helping the organization to provide the highest level of care. New trustees bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise that helps us to advance our mission, and I am thrilled to welcome these two outstanding individuals to our team.”
