Did You Know?
Cancer Could Be in Your Genes
About 1 in 10 cancers is hereditary, passed down from family member to family member. A family history of cancer can mean you're at a high risk of developing cancer yourself. Genetic testing can help you better understand your risk.
Cancer is On the Rise in Younger Adults
According to the American Cancer Society, cancer rates are rising in younger adults. Understanding your cancer risk and screening options is important in early cancer detection.
Early Detection Saves Lives
For almost all cancer types, the chance of survival increases significantly the earlier a cancer is detected. Finding cancer at an early stage allows for more treatment options. Based on your individual risk factors, you may be eligible for earlier screenings, such as a colonoscopy or lung cancer screenings. We also offer advanced screening tools that can detect several cancers simultaneously.
Our Services
Clinical Research
The Hennessy Institute is a hub for impactful clinical research in cancer prevention and early detection. Our collaborative environment brings together clinicians, researchers and patients to design and participate in innovative clinical trials.
We are currently enrolling participants in the following studies:
- The CanScan Registry: A community-based registry to assess, address and advance screening for cancer prevention and management. Our goal is to collect data from diverse populations to better understand the roles of genetic testing, lifestyle and other factors in early cancer detection and prevention.
- The PINK Study: A double-blind, observational study to validate the SpotitEarly Test for breast cancer detection. This innovative test uses a simple breath sample and combines trained dogs' incredible sense of smell with artificial intelligence to detect breast cancer. The goal is to see if this technology can make early cancer detection easier and more comfortable.
- The LUNGscreen Study: This pilot project determines if offering the no-cost FirstLook Lung cancer pre-screening blood test increases the rate of completed Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) scans among individuals eligible for lung cancer screening. By offering a less invasive first step, the study aims to overcome barriers to screening and improve lung cancer early detection rates.
