Hearing Aid Options to Fit Your Needs at Hackensack Meridian Health

If you’re among the 28 million Americans who have hearing loss, you may benefit from hearing aids. Hearing aids can help you hear and improve your ability to understand the world around you. At Hackensack Meridian Health Audiology, we aim to help you find a hearing aid that will improve your hearing and enhance your quality of life.

Our audiologists will test your hearing. If the doctor thinks a hearing aid could help, they will go over your options. Then, you can try different models to find the best fit.

What to Expect During Your Audiology Appointment

Our trusted audiologists have decades of experience. They have helped improve the lives of many people with mild to profound hearing loss.

We meet patients face-to-face at our hospital-based locations. This allows our team to provide individualized care. During your appointment, we will test your hearing, then determine which hearing aid is best for you.

We help you find the right hearing aid, based on:

  • Your degree of hearing loss
  • The shape of your outer ear and ear canal
  • Your lifestyle
  • Your budget

Hearing Aids Offered at Hackensack Meridian Health

Hearing Aids

Forget about the clunky, whistling hearing aids that your grandfather wore. Today’s devices are tiny by comparison. Their digital technology produces a crisp, natural sound. It also limits background noise.

Many devices adjust their settings on their own when you move from a noisy environment to a quiet one. They connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth. This lets you use extra features.

Some of the hearing aid styles we offer at Hackensack Meridian Health include:

  • Behind-the-ear. A custom earmold fits in your ear, which connects to a small case with electronic parts that sit behind your ear. This style is recommended for anyone who has more severe hearing loss.
  • Receiver-in-the-canal. A small thin clear tubing fits in your ear which is connected to a small plastic case that sits behind your ear. This style is appropriate for anyone with mild to severe hearing loss.
  • In-the-ear. This hearing aids go into the outer ear, with no external case. They’re small enough to be less noticeable but large enough for most people to place and remove easily. This style is appropriate for people with mid to severe hearing loss.
  • In-the-canal. This style of hearing aid fits completely within your ear canal so it’s less visible than the in-the-ear style. Some people prefer the smaller size. They’re ideal for someone with mild or moderate hearing loss.
  • Completely-in-the-canal. These are the tiniest hearing aids, almost hidden from view. There’s less space inside for technology, so they’re not the most powerful hearing aids. These are best for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.

Hearing aid prices can vary. They depend on how much hearing loss you have, your style preference and the features you would like. We will work with you to find a reasonably priced model that meets your needs. Financing is available for those who qualify.
