U.S. News & World Report Once Again Names Hackensack Meridian Health Hospitals Among Best in New Jersey and New York Metro Area

Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, and Raritan Bay Medical Center are recognized as four of the top 10 hospitals in New Jersey and best hospitals in the New York Metro area for 2018-2019

Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network, is proud to announce that four of its hospitals – Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, and Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy – are being recognized among the best hospitals in New Jersey and the New York Metro area for 2018-2019 by U.S. News & World Report. The 29th annual Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

Hackensack University Medical Center is ranked #2 in New Jersey and #5 in the New York Metro area. Hackensack University Medical Center continues to set the bar high for New Jersey hospitals. In addition to its Best Hospitals ranking, Hackensack University Medical Center is ranked nationally in orthopedics and high-performing in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center is ranked #4 in New Jersey and #12 in the New York Metro area. In addition, Jersey Shore is recognized as high performing in chronic constructive pulmonary disease, heart bypass surgery and heart failure.

Riverview Medical Center is ranked #8 in New Jersey and #16 in the New York Metro area. In addition to Riverview’s Best Hospital ranking, the medical center is high performing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure and hip replacement.

New this year, Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy is ranked #10 in New Jersey and #20 in the New York Metro area. Raritan Bay is also recognized as high performing in heart failure.

For the 2018-19 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. This year, a total of 158 hospitals were nationally ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care. The methodologies used to compile the report include risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, quality of nursing care and other care-related indicators.
