Welcome to the Interventional Neurology Fellowship
The UCNS-accredited Interventional Neurology Fellowship at Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center offers rigorous training and a desirable suburban location with easy access to major public transportation, promoting a balanced personal and professional life. Based within our Joint Commission-designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, fellows benefit from high case volume, a diverse patient population, and state-of-the-art biplane angiography suites. A supportive learning environment fosters strong mentorship from experienced interdisciplinary faculty in Interventional Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Anesthesia and Neurology. Our comprehensive curriculum includes a dedicated fellow lecture series, enriching your educational experience and preparing you for a successful career.
Fellows gain comprehensive experience in a wide spectrum of neurointerventional procedures. These include diagnostic angiography (cerebral and spinal), advanced interventional techniques (balloon occlusion testing, inferior petrosal sinus sampling, WADA testing), acute ischemic stroke treatment, stenting for intracranial and extracranial carotid stenosis, aneurysm coiling and intrasaccular treatment, and embolization of AVMs, DAVFs, CCFs, and middle meningeal artery. Electives in stroke rehabilitation (in affiliation with Johnson Rehabilitation Hospital), neurosurgery, anesthesia, neurocritical care, research, neuroradiology, critical care and neurovascular ultrasound are also available.
Fellows gain valuable teaching and leadership skills while involved in resident and medical student education. Additionally, fellows are encouraged to participate in investigator-initiated research and multi-center national clinical trials, as well as to attend national conferences. Attendings also mentor the fellows to participate in various research initiatives.
Our UCNS Accredited Interventional Neurology Fellowship offers one position per year as part of our 4-year combined fellowship program consisting of 1 year Vascular Neurology, 2 years Neurocritical Care and 1 year in Interventional Neurology. We are not currently offering Interventional Neurology Fellowship as a standalone program.
