HMH - Pediatric Endocrinology - Hackensack - The Molly Center for Diabetes

Our practice uses a multidisciplinary approach to give patients and their families an understanding of diabetes and other endocrine disorders.

Besides diabetes, some of the conditions we treat include thyroid disease, pituitary and adrenal conditions, growth and gonadal disorders, nutrition disorders and metabolic bone disease. Board certified pediatric endocrinologists, advanced practice nurses, certified diabetes educators, registered nutritionists, licensed social workers, medical assistants and a creative arts therapist offer the most current treatment options to ensure high-quality, holistic and effective treatment.

We use a family-centered approach, providing you and your child with the necessary skills and helping you gain confidence in your ability to manage illness on a day-to-day basis. Teens and their families are given help transitioning to independent care, so they can manage their own medical conditions when they are ready to leave home for college or work.

Services

We believe that diabetes affects the whole family, and we utilize a team approach to diabetes management. Children and adolescents with diabetes need specialized medical care to stay healthy and to avoid complications. We provide patients and their families with the most up-to-date treatment options and the best methods of management. Our mission is to help each child with diabetes and their family to live a full and satisfying life and to reach the goals they had before diabetes came into their lives.

In addition to state-of-the-art medical care, parents and their families participate in no-cost education and support groups in our “After School at Molly’s” program. This unique program provides valuable information and support to children and their families within a fun and positive atmosphere. Families participate in lectures that include practical tools for diabetes management, fitness, and understanding family dynamics. Children and parents also connect with other families affected by diabetes, and have opportunities to participate in social events and Molly holiday parties.

Our diabetes services include:

  • Diabetes education
  • Individual and family counseling aimed at enhancing, coping, and adaptation
  • Support groups for children and parents
