Our Ventilator Unit was the first in Middlesex County and has been providing high quality care for over 30 years. Our staff understand the complex needs of ventilator dependent individuals. The unit, staffed 24/7 by respiratory therapists and our highly trained nursing staff, has an excellent track record in weaning patients, who are candidates, from the ventilator to breathe independently The Unit is overseen by our Medical Director who is a board certified Pulmonologist.
The Extended Recovery Unit, is one of three units comprising the highly acclaimed Center for Brain Injuries at the Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. Our staff is experienced in head trauma and our Medical Director is board certified in Brain Injury Medicine. The Center for Brain Injuries, established in 1981, is nationally known as a pioneer in brain trauma evaluation and treatment. It was one of the first rehabilitation centers in the country to recognize that individuals who have sustained traumatic brain injuries or other acquired neurological injuries require a specialized treatment environment with high quality care provided by a team of medical and rehabilitation specialists.
