Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation and Hackensack Meridian Old Bridge Medical Center Foundation are proud to announce that their annual Walk for Mental Health will return to Perth Amboy on September 26. The walk, which spreads awareness for mental health care and raises funds for mental health initiatives at Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Old Bridge Medical Center, consists of a community gathering in Perth Amboy and a walk over the Victory Bridge, which carries Route 35 over the Raritan River. Perth Amboy mayor Helmin J. Caba, who has walked with us in the past, will join us once again for this inspiring event.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and this walk, held rain or shine, is free to attend. Participants are also invited to host fundraisers to support the cause, and gather support from their friends, family and fellow community members. Commemorative t-shirts are available for those who fundraise at least $50.

“By participating in our Walk for Mental Health, you are helping our hospitals and our physicians deliver exceptional mental health care throughout our communities,” said Patricia Carroll, FACHE, president and chief hospital executive at Old Bridge Medical Center and Raritan Bay Medical Center. “Mental health initiatives are more important than ever, and our annual walk will go a long way toward helping us to provide care to those who need it most.”

“The Walk for Mental Health is a great opportunity for our donors and sponsors to send a powerful statement in support of behavioral health services,” said Joyce P. Hendricks, president and chief development officer, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation. “Philanthropy plays a tremendous role in allowing us to provide much-needed mental health care at our hospitals, and we invite everyone to walk with us for this great cause.”

All funds raised from the walk will directly benefit Raritan Bay Medical Center and Old Bridge Medical Center while supporting Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation’s Be The Difference campaign. Launched in September 2024, Be The Difference is a transformational effort focusing on four key pillars: enhancing the delivery of patient care, accelerating groundbreaking research and discovery, expanding access to care for all and revolutionizing medical education while supporting the nursing profession. Through this ambitious initiative, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation aims to reshape health care for patients, clinicians and the communities it serves, paving the way for a brighter, healthier future.
