Skin issues can be uncomfortable, embarrassing, and sometimes dangerous. Proper diagnosis and treatment by a dermatologist who specializes in children’s skin diseases is important. At the Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology Center, the latest medications and advanced technology is used. Our physicians are fellowship-trained in pediatric dermatology and double board-certified in dermatology and pediatric dermatology. Our advanced facility enables us to perform minor surgical procedures for children. Laser therapy with anesthesia also is available in our pediatric operating rooms for infants, children and adolescents. The goal is to make patients and their families comfortable, and to provide them with reassurance about their skin.

• Consult services in the emergency department, pediatric inpatient unit, pediatric intensive care unit, and neonatal intensive care unit
• Contact allergen patch testing
• Evaluation of birthmarks
• Management of common skin conditions such as acne, atopic dermatitis (eczema), hair loss, hives, common infections (impetigo, cold sores, ringworm), psoriasis, rashes due to viruses or medications
• Outpatient dermatology care
• Total body skin examinations

The following treatments can be provided:

• Acne surgery
• Corticosteroid injections to treat alopecia areata, keloids and inflamed cysts
• Excimer (phototherapy) laser treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis
• Laser hair removal
• Laser treatment of vascular birthmarks (with general anesthesia, if needed)
• Skin biopsies, removal of benign growths, suspicious moles, birthmarks and cysts
• Treatment of infantile hemangiomas (topical or systemic treatments including propranolol)
• Treatment of more severe skin conditions (atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, blistering diseases) requiring systemic immunosuppressive therapy, including biologics
• Treatment or removal of benign viral lesions such as warts and molluscum
