Zscaler   

Hackensack Meridian Health uses Zscaler for internet content filtering. In order to access secure “https://” sites, a Zscaler Root Security Certificate must be installed on the device. Hackensack Meridian Health managed devices automatically receive the Zscaler Root Security Certificate. Personally owned devices that leverage the Zscaler internet content filtering solution will require a manual install of the Zscaler Root Security Certificate. This certificate is installed so that your internet traffic can be securely transmitted.

Follow the steps outlined below to download and install the Zscaler Root Security Certificate on the various Operating Systems and Web Browsers.

Step 1: Download the Zscaler Certificate


Step 2: Follow the instructions outlined below to manually install the Zscaler Certificate


Microsoft Windows – Internet Explorer

* Installing the certificate through Internet Explorer also covers Edge and the Google Chrome Browsers.

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Open Internet Options from the Internet Explorer Menu
  3. Select the Content Tab
  4. Click the Certificates Button
  5. Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Tab
  6. Click the Import ButtonThe Certificate Wizard pops up
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Browse
  9. Find the Certificate you downloaded from Step 1 and click Open
  10. Click Next
  11. Ensure the Certificate is placed in the “Trusted Root Certificate Authorities” which is displayed by default.
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Finish
  14. Click Yes to accept the Security Warning
  15. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


Microsoft Windows – Edge

* Installing the certificate through Edge also covers Internet Explorer and the Google Chrome Browsers.

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Open Settings from the Edge Browser Menu
  3. Select Privacy, search, and services from the left side menu
  4. Scroll down and select Manage certificates
  5. Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Tab
  6. Click the Import ButtonThe Certificate Wizard pops up
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Browse
  9. Find the Certificate you downloaded from Step 1 and click Open
  10. Click Next
  11. Ensure the Certificate is placed in the “Trusted Root Certificate Authorities” which is displayed by default.
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Finish
  14. Click Yes to accept the Security Warning
  15. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


Microsoft Windows – Google Chrome Browser

* Installing the certificate through Google Chrome also covers Internet Explorer and the Edge Browsers.

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Open Settings from the Chrome Browser Menu
  3. Select Privacy and Security from the left side menu
  4. Select Security
  5. Scroll down and select Manage Certificates
  6. Select the Authorities Tab
  7. Click the Import Button
    The Certificate Wizard pops up
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Browse
  10. Find the Certificate you downloaded from Step 1 and click Open
  11. Click Next
  12. Ensure the Certificate is placed in the “Trusted Root Certificate Authorities” which is displayed by default.
  13. Click Next
  14. Click Finish
  15. Click Yes to accept the Security Warning
  16. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


Firefox

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Open Settings from the Firefox Browser Menu
  3. Select Privacy & Security from the left side menu
  4. Scroll down and locate the Security section. Under Certificates, select View Certificates
  5. Select the Authorities Tab
  6. Click the Import Button
  7. Find the Certificate you downloaded from Step 1 and click Open
  8. Place a check mark next to “Trust this CA to identify websites”
  9. Click OK
  10. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


Chrome OS

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Open Settings from the Chrome Browser Menu
  3. Select Privacy and Security from the left side menu
  4. Select Security
  5. Scroll down and select Manage Certificates
  6. Select the Authorities Tab
  7. Click the Import Button
  8. Find the Certificate you downloaded from Step 1 and click Open
  9. Place a check mark next to “Trust this certificate for identifying websites”
  10. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


Android

  1. Download the Zscaler Certificate
    Android will ask you to give the certificate a name. Give the certificate a name (example: Zscaler)
  2. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


MAC OS

    Download the Zscaler Certificate
  1. Double Click the file. Depending on the version of MAC OS, the “Keychain” window will open.
  2. Select the System under the Keychain drop down list
  3. Click Add
  4. Enter your password when prompted
  5. Click Modify Keychain
  6. Double Click the Zscaler Certificate in the System Keychain
  7. Expand Trust
  8. Set Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to “Always Trust”
  9. Set X.509 Basic Policy to “Always Trust”
  10. Exit out of Window
  11. Enter your password when prompted
  12. Click OK

This completes the Certificate Install


IOS

  1. From the Safari Browser Download the Zscaler Certificate
  2. Click Allow when prompted to allow the download of a configuration profile
  3. From the IOS Settings Menu click General
  4. Scroll down and click Profile
  5. Click the Zscaler Root CA Downloaded Profile
  6. Click Install
  7. Enter your Passcode when prompted
  8. Click Install
  9. Click Install
  10. Zscaler Root CA Certificate should display Verified
  11. Click Done
