Research and Innovation

We believe that scholarly pursuit is important in the training of fellows, and can be accomplished such that it is meaningful and rewarding for the fellow. Protected time and educational conferences will be provided to help maximize this experience. Fellows may devise their own research project with the clinical faculty, work on a clinical or QI project, or take advantage of the unique opportunities for translational and basic science research at the Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI). CDI has attracted top researchers from academia and industry where a focus is drug resistant bacterial, fungal and mycobacterial infections. With the advent of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the lab quickly changed gears and came to the forefront developing early diagnostic tests, collaborating in treatment trials, and tracking viral mutations.
