Pediatric Residency - Hackensack
Application Process
Thank you for your interest in our program! All applications will be processed through ERAS. Applications will be accepted until November 15th.
Our residency program application requirements are:
- Complete an ERAS application
- Personal statement
- Recent photograph
- Medical school transcripts (to be provided by your medical school)
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Three letters of recommendation from supervising faculty who know you well and can comment in depth on your clinical work, achievement, leadership, personal qualities, and project contributions. At least one of these letters should be written by a faculty member in pediatrics.
- USMLE and/or COMLEX transcripts (to be provided by National Boards)
- Successful completion of USMLE/COMLEX Step 1 is required, and successful completion of Step 2 CK is desired. If you are still waiting for your Step 2 score, submit your application now and send us the updated information as soon as it is available.
- ECFMG Status Report (international graduates only, to be provided by ECFMG)
- We do accept international graduates.
- Candidates must be within five years of graduation from medical school at the time of matriculating into the residency program.
- Personal interview
- Registration with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Virtual interviews will be conducted from early November through mid-January.
Physicians matriculating into the Hackensack University Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program will be expected to:
- Complete satisfactorily ALL of their medical school’s requirements culminating in graduation from medical school in good standing
- Provide proof of graduation from medical school
- Have ECFMG certification (if applicable), and
- Be eligible for a training license as a resident physician in the State of New Jersey as governed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.
