Meet Our Faculty

Meet the dedicated faculty behind the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Fellowship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The faculty actively engages trainees in comprehensive patient care, hands-on evaluations and weekly didactic sessions. Their mentorship ensures trainees' exposure to rare conditions, insight into pathophysiology, and expertise in neuroinflammatory disorders. 

David Duncan MD

David Duncan, M.D., FAAN

David B. Duncan, M.D., FAAN, is a board-certified neurologist and Program Director of the Comprehensive MS Center located at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. 

Along with his extensive work with multiple sclerosis patients, Dr. Duncan also treats patients with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), alongside other neurological disorders. He also has extra training in procedures for the treatment of symptoms related to MS and other neurological conditions, like Botox and Intrathecal Baclofen for the management of spasticity. He helped found the MS center at Jersey Shore Medical Center and continues to work to expand its clinical, teaching and research goals.

Lana Ryerson MDLana Zhovtis Ryerson, M.D.

Lana Zhovtis Ryerson, M.D., Fellowship Program Director, is a board-certified neurologist with a special focus on multiple sclerosis who is a part of the Hackensack Meridian Medical Group team. Dr. Zhovtis Ryerson has devoted her career to developing and providing rigorous, comprehensive, and compassionate care to those afflicted with multiple sclerosis, as well as other immune-mediated diseases affecting the central nervous system. She hopes to further the understanding and improve treatment options for multiple sclerosis patients through clinical research.

Maya Madhavan MDMaya Madhavan, M.D.

Maya Madhavan, M.D., is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurologist with a special focus on neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis who has recently joined the Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. As a hospital-based location, Dr. Madhavan has seamless access to the most advanced treatment options as well as support services for patients and their families.
