Career interest: Cardiology
Fun fact: My lifelong dream would be to fill my 22” tall coca-cola bottle piggy bank with coins. Currently about 10% full and already weighs 15
pounds!
Why JSUMC?: It’s a program that values psychological safety and respect among peers and seniors. The team here really supports one another no matter what, while encouraging everyone to be their best selves!


Sruti Cheruvu, MDSruti Cheruvu, M.D.
Undergraduate: Rutgers University - New Brunswick
Medical School: Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Career Interest: Peds GI, PICU, or NICU - I'm keeping an open mind and am eager to learn!
Fun Fact: I can play the violin, sing, and do Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance)
Why JSUMC?: I was very impressed by the program's focus on a strong mentorship culture, emphasis on graduated autonomy, opportunities for residents to develop procedural skills, and close-knit resident community.


Madeleine DalyMadeleine Daly, D.O.
Undergraduate: Ramapo College of New Jersey
Medical School: Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine
Career Interest: General Pediatrics
Fun Fact: I have run five marathons and I love to surf!
Why JSUMC?: This program checked every box for me! I did a Sub I here, and everyone was so kind to me. I saw how capable and confident the residents were and I knew I wanted to develop into that kind of physician during my training. I also absolutely love the beach and I wanted this next chapter of my life to be here.

Undergraduate: Washington University in St. Louis
Medical School: Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
Career Interest: Pediatric Gastroenterology
Fun Fact: I have been playing the Violin for 20 years.  About a year ago I performed at a friend's (now co-resident's) wedding.Why JSUMC?: The close-knit community; perhaps being by the shore has something to do with it.  Though I feel the openness and willingness of everyone to help each other is especially welcoming.

Career Interest: Neonatology/Critical Care
Fun Fact: I learned neonatology existed while watching an episode of The Little Couple!
Why JSUMC?: This community has made me feel wanted, valued, and supported since the application process and I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.


Jordon NortonJordan Norton, M.D.
Undergraduate: Louisiana State University
Medical School: St. George’s University
Career Interest: Either Outpatient Peds or Neonatology
Fun Fact: I love sea turtles , and when I lived in Grenada I got to see one lay eggs on the beach.
Why JSUMC?: I really enjoyed the workflow, teachings, and how friendly the residents were whenever I completed my Sub I here.

Career Interest: General Pediatrics
Fun Fact: I like baking and binging shows
Why JSUMC?: The wide range of pathology makes it the perfect place to learn as much as possible and also the residents and attendings here are amazing!


Lily SanzaloneLily Sanzalone, D.O.
Undergraduate: Xavier University
Medical School: LECOM
Career Interest: Allergy and Immunology
Fun Fact: I love to crochet in my free time.
Why JSUMC?: I chose JSUMC for its welcoming and supportive culture, with a strong sense of community among the residents and faculty. With its diverse patient population, I thought it would be the best place to train. Being close to my family in New Jersey was an added bonus. 


Serena ZarateSerena Zarate, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of California Irvine
Medical School: St. George's University
Career Interest: Within the hospital setting- possibly as a hospitalist, or in the NICU or PICU
Fun Fact: I completed two cross-country road trips when moving from Grenada back to California, and then from California to New Jersey! I also have two Australian Shepherds that have stayed with me the entire time!
Why JSUMC?:  I completed my third year clinicals at the hospital and knew from that experience that I could see myself completing residency here. Everyone was so friendly and very invested in everyone's learning. I knew I would be able to learn a lot from training here while also enjoying coming to work!

Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Career Interest: Hospitalist or PEM
Fun Fact: Sleeping is one of my favorite hobbies. If I don't have plans, you'll probably find me napping.
Why JSUMC?: I really enjoyed my interview day!  Everyone was very nice and I felt welcomed. Plus, I get to be closer to home!

Career Interest: Child Neurology
Fun Fact: When I was a child, my dream job was to become an astronaut!
Why JSUMC?: Although moving across the country for residency was a big change, I’ve been grateful for the welcoming and supportive community at JSUMC & the holistic care we provide to patients.


Diji JohnsonDiji Johnson, MBBS, Child Neurology
Medical School: Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India
Career interests: Neurology, with a special interest in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology.
Fun fact: If there's chai around, there's a good chance you'll find me nearby.
Why JSUMC?: I came to JSUMC for the Epilepsy Research Fellowship, but I stayed because of the people. Everyone has been incredibly kind and welcoming, making it feel like home from day one.  Being close to the Shore has been a nice bonus!
