New Adolescent & Teen Residential Treatment Program

Carrier Clinic® adds new Adolescent & Teen Residential Treatment Program to East Mountain Youth Lodge

Carrier Clinic®, an NJ psychiatric hospital and recovery center, announced today that it has opened the Wolf Lodge, a co-ed residential treatment program for adolescent and teen residents between the ages of 13-18 who are experiencing co-occurring disorders.

The addition of the new Lodge helps Carrier Clinic further provide the necessary treatment for those adolescents and teens suffering from co-occurring disorders – characterized by having both substance abuse challenges as well as behavioral and/or emotional difficulties.

The East Mountain Youth Lodge has been treating adolescents and teens with co-occurring disorders since its inception in 1995. A recent NJ State bid award will provide additional resources to further enhance mental health residential care to this population.

Enrichments to the program include smaller milieus, higher clinical staff ratio, and more frequent therapeutic interventions to provide a supportive, healing environment that prepares residents for a future in a less restrictive setting.

Anthony Cartusciello, Assistant Vice President and Director of Adolescent Residential Services, says,

"While we have been providing Co-occurring services for decades, we are thrilled to see that the State recognizes the prevalence of these illnesses within the NJ System of Care, and is providing additional resources to residential programs throughout the state so we can better serve this vulnerable population."

Carrier Clinic’s East Mountain Youth Lodge provides 24-hour clinical, therapeutic residential treatment for emotional, behavioral, psychiatric, and substance abuse difficulties.

Within East Mountain Youth Lodge, there are seven individual programs, based on clinical intensity.

The SWAN Lodge provides Intensive Residential Treatment Services and represents the highest level of therapeutic intervention.

The SUNFLOWER and LOTUS Lodges are Psychiatric Community Homes each with 5 female residents.

The Residential Treatment Center level of intensity is home to the BEAR, EAGLE, BUTTERFLY/DRAGONFLY Lodges and we are proud to introduce the new WOLF Lodge as a 14 bed co-ed, co-occurring residential treatment program.

The total number of teens living in the Carrier Clinic residential continuum is 91.
