Treatments for Lymphoma

Our understanding of the molecular make-up of lymphoma has led to more targeted treatments and better outcomes. Unique to John Theurer Cancer Center is our outcomes division that tracks patient's response to treatment. This helps us identify and refine our treatment recommendations to provide you with the very best possible outcome.

Your personalized plan may include one or a combination of the following treatments.

Chemotherapy works by slowing or stopping the division of cancer cells. Given in pill form or through an IV or injection, chemotherapy circulates throughout the body which makes it effective in treating lymphoma. High-dose chemotherapy also is given before a stem cell transplant for lymphoma.

Cancer grows because it escapes the immune system’s ability to kill cancer cells. With CAR T-cell therapy, your immune cells are armed with special proteins to attack cancer. Clinical trials showed CAR T-cell therapy helped patients with recurrent lymphoma go into remission for years.

John Theurer Cancer Center’s team helped develop advanced immunotherapy for lymphoma. Depending on your type of lymphoma, you may be a candidate for immunotherapy which boosts your immune system to find and destroy lymphoma cells.

Advances in stem cell transplant have made this approach a viable option for treating lymphoma.

John Theurer Cancer Center has one of the largest and most experienced stem cell transplant programs in the country. We’ve performed more than 1,500 stem cell transplants for Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This experience means better outcomes for our patients.

We are the only center conducting a clinical trial of combined checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy after stem cell transplant for lymphoma, to improve outcomes and reduce the risk of cancer returning.
